I walked into the lounge to find my dad on the ground peering in to my puppys mouth. “What the hell?”
“Hes losing his puppy teeth. Look look this ones almost out”
“Leave it, Dad.”
“But..”
“LEAVE IT”

It was sorta funny seeing that. It reminded me of when I started losing my teeth and my dad would just get so excited about it. “That ones just hanging by a thread, go on just tug it out.” “No.” “You can’t just leave it in there! You can’t! Just one quick yank and its out” “No Dad. Look! I can spin it all the way round!” “ARGHH”

From there he managed to talk me into putting toothfloss around it and tying the other end to the door handle. Then slamming the door.

My parents both had naturally perfect teeth. My brother and mine are SHOCKING. There may be some sort of connection here.

This blog is going to be entirely dedicated to my new boy, Cash, then maybe I’ll stop talking about him so much in real life hehe.

On Saturday morning, my bro and I got up at 7am to start the 9 hour trip to Stratford to go pick up our puppy. Neither Jordan or I had been awake before 12pm on a weekend for years. We lacked a iTrip, and the thought of listening to Dad’s cds (we took his car) the whole way there and back posed a problem. This was soon solved by grabbing a small power box (plugged into the cigerette thingy), and my brothers iHome alarm clock that I balanced on my knee the whole way up and back. Played music AND charged at the same time! Ahh iPods. Amazing.

We got to the ranch where the breeder lives. I think she said she has about 11 Bernese Mountain Dogs of her own, as well as the 13 puppies. She gave us a book, food and blanket that smelt like puppy so he wouldn’t feel like he was somewhere completely unfamiliar. We had set up the back of the car with a soft canvas dog house thing, a waterbowl and some toys. As we got going he yelped a bit, but quieted down when he heard me singing. I sing in the car. Either he was comforted by my voice, or I sound like a howling dog so he felt like he was at home. I think it’s the latter.

20 minutes later, Jordan looked at me. “Do you smell that?” “No…OH FUCK”. Cash had crapped 3/4 of his total body weight all over his puppy blanket. After much dry-retching and cleaning we began the journey again. Jordan looked at me again. “Do you smell that?”
“Oh my God, he seriously can’t have any more crap left in him… wait no, I don’t smell it..”
“WAFTING… WAFTING” he giggled manically, fanning air in my direction.

It doesn’t matter how old we get, my little brother is still my little brother trying to gross me out.
We got home at about 5pm, and followed Cash round as he sniffed out everything. I stuck him in the sink to clean his paws and his belly and he didn’t freak out. In fact he didn’t freak out generally at all. He ran round, chewed stuff and climbed all over us. He hasn’t cried at all for his mum, he’s fit in so well. The book the breeder gave us said he wouldn’t eat and might be a bit depressed his first night, but he was fine. He ate everything I gave him with great enthusiasm.

The first night we had him, I barely slept. I’d go to close my eyes then “PUPPY…no he’ll be fine….PUPPY… no he’ll be fine…” Haha. He’s almost toilet trained, he barked his first real bark this morning, and he’s just so much fun. Love him more than life.

And… videos… Because puppys are fun :)
