AKA I spend my life arguing with Customer Support in Britain.
Tiscali Customer Services
30 September 08
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to complain about your truly appalling customer service that I have received. I rang to confirm that a technician would be sent out today and to give a contact number for when he/she arrives so that there would be no chance that we could miss this appointment. We had a situation the week before where a technician supposedly turned up and said no one was home, although we were.
When I rang Tiscali, after being on hold for 20 minutes, I spoke to an Irish man who just could not be bothered talking to me. He said the systems were down and he wasn’t able to access anything. I told him that’s fine, could he please make a note to pass on a message to the technician once the systems were up. He said no, he can’t make a note, because his computer wasn’t working. I then recommended using a piece of paper and a pen to write a note, he said no, he couldn’t use a pen and paper, because the systems are down.
I am concerned that your company employs people who unable to write a note on a piece of paper.
After trying to reason with this man, he said he can’t write a note, because he’s in Ireland and can’t pass the note over to the technician. I had to explain that the note was not for the technician, it was for himself, to remind him to call the technician once the systems were up. He said he couldn’t do that, because the systems were down.
Throughout the conversation he was sighing and generally being rude. I understand that things come to a bit of a standstill when your computer systems are down, but this is no excuse for awful customer service.
Kind regards,
